Thermal Technologies
Ex-Situ Thermal Desorption
Contaminated soils are excavated, segregated and fed into a rotary dryer. The soils are then heated to a temperature at which certain contaminants are volatilised. These gases are then recovered and treated using a range of processes such as thermal or catalytic oxidation. This technique is very useful as the volume of the feed material can be kept to a minimum using traditional excavation techniques.
