Remediation Technology
FSL are able to carry out most aspects of remediation. These works are carried out either 'in house' or by specialist subcontractor partners who are managed by FSL.
We have long since recognised that, rather than offering one or two particular specialities, it is better to understand the needs and unique challenges brought about by every different remediation project. We are able to assess a project on its own merits and establish what is best for the Client and the project in general.
Often, emphasis is placed upon a certain type of technology which may or may not be appropriate for the job. Some technologies work well on paper, but in practice may be limited due to other external aspects such as geology and geotechnical criteria, proximity of residents or working room.
In some cases simple civil engineering procedures such as screening and sorting will provide the most cost effective, efficient solution for dealing with contaminated material.
In the past FSL have carried out bioremediation, in-situ and ex-situ stabilisation, soil washing and simple screening and sorting to carry out remediation projects. Where specialist plant is required that we do not have internal access to, we have partnered with specialist providers to offer such techniques.
We feel that it is important to assess each project on its own merits and use our experience of treating over 25 gasworks sites to ensure that the best possible remediation technique is used.
Most of our gasworks experience has been gained by carrying out 'all risk, lump sum' projects for the private sector where the emphasis on remediation is primarily driven by cost and time. To date FSL have never carried out any project which has gone over budget or has not been delivered on time. FSL have treated/remediated a wide range of typical gas works residues ranging from coal tars to spent oxides through to other more general gas works contaminants such as ammonia and asbestos.
