Description

The former oil storage depot is located adjacent the River Medway and had extensive hydrocarbon contamination (free and dissolved phase) from historic fuel spills over a number of years.

FSL were appointed to design the remediation approach and achieve its approval by the regulator (Environment Agency). The end point of the remediation negotiated with the Environment Agency was betterment of the site. Once the strategy received approval, the remediation was carried out employing various technologies including source removal and in-situ dual-phase extraction with on site water treatment.

FSL processed all arisings, including obstructions and surface cover, and produced sufficient material to cap the site. The remaining material was stockpiled and left for incorporation within the later construction works.

FSL are carrying out long term monitoring on this site on behalf of the client.
